After Bowman, Stephanie and I drove up to Jackson Meadows for another week of camping with our family. We didn't get to be there the whole week as we had a couple days of work that required us to return home in the middle of the week.
Our first full day there, it was really windy. That hindered us in what we could do. Stephanie and I went hiking in the morning. My dad told us about a store on the other side of the lake and we wanted to see if we could hike to it. It seemed relatively easy: hike halfway around the lake and then head straight back. When you come to a road, depending on if it's gravel or dirt, you go right or left. That doesn't sound too hard, does it? So we hiked halfway around the lake and then headed straight back.... and ended up coming across more lake. The lake was shaped like a horseshoe. That completely confused us. We tried finding the road and just couldn't find it. We returned to camp defeated and discouraged. Mom took us in the truck to the store so we were able to see where it was and what we did wrong. Of course, when we got there, the store was closed.
After lunch, we took a nap and then went back to the store, which by now was opened. Stephanie bought mom this really cute fuzzy bear and I got her a Snickers. It was fun.
The next two days we went back home for work and then returned back to Jackson Meadows, the remaining night and day we were there were filled with fellowship, showing mom and dad our newly discovered fireball entertainment (I'm telling you
AXE + empty water bottle = an hour of fun.), and feeding a squirrel named Billy Bob and three chipmunks (or ground squirrels, whatever you want to call them) named Chip, Dale, and Charlie marshmallows and pieces of bread. Those furry animals provided a couple hours worth of entertainment while we packed up and were ready to come home. I was amazed at Billy Bob. After half a bag of marshmallows he would come really close to us. It was so much fun watching him stuff his face full of marshmallow pieces and then he would run away and return a little while later to gather more.
We took a different route home, driving past the Sierra Buttes (I was really tempted to hike up there again) and stopping in Downieville. I was excited when I found a glass Coca-Cola bottle in a little store. I almost got it, but didn't. Grrr. I'm wishing I had bought one. Oh well.
So there you have it. Our amazingly fun and adventurous Labor Day week camping trips. Definately a highlight for me.

Peter Might Get Billed! (Part 1)
I have to be honest. This year's Labor Day week has been my favorite EVER!
It was kicked off with a Bowman Lake camping trip Saturday - Monday with (none other than) my camp peeps! Whenever you go on a trip of any kind with camp people, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience. The weekend was filled with way too much fun and great memories.
Here are just a few highlights:
- We came up with hilarious one-liners. (The title of this post is strange for a reason.)
- The guys (we love you guys!) cooked the meals for most of the weekend. And not only that, they also built the girls a hut (hut, hut, huts!) to sleep in!
- We discovered (much to our delight) what happens when you play with AXE and fire - really cool fire balls and hours of giggling girls who are high off of the AXE smell. Side note: Guys, I know on the AXE can it says if you use it you will attract women (yes, it does actually say something to that effect), but trust me. If you spray that stuff, we will run FAR away from you.
- We hiked to Weaver Lake, went inside a cave, and hiked up to the mailbox! (Swan Dive! Sorry, Galen, but you're not the only one who lost the game so you're not alone.)
- We walked/canoed/climbed to some waterfalls (inflatable canoes are apparently VERY hard to control. I wouldn't know, though. I walked) and swam in a swimming hole.
- The girls sang Taylor Swift songs (myself included, if you count knowing the first part of one song as singing to Taylor Swift songs) while we made spaghetti for dinner one night.
I could go on and on, but I will refrain. Otherwise, this would be a REALLY long post. That's all I have time for. Soon I will do part 2.

Britney I'm Sorry - Bebo Norman
Britney I'm sorry for the lies we told
We took you into our arms and then left you cold
Britney I'm sorry for this cruel, cruel world
We sell the beauty but destroy the girl
Britney I'm sorry for your broken heart
We stood aside and watched you fall apart
I'm sorry we told you fame would fill you up
And money moves the man so drink the cup
I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
You never see it coming back
I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
But I can see it coming back for you
Yes coming back for you
Britney I'm sorry for the stones we throw
We tear you down just so we can watch the show
Britney I'm sorry for the words we say
We point the finger as you fall from grace
I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
You never see it coming back
And I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
But I can see it coming back for you
Yeah, it's coming back for you,
Yeah, it's coming back for you,
Yeah, it's coming back for you, yeah
Britney I do believe that love has come
Here for the broken
Here for the ones like us
I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
You never see it coming back
And I know love goes around the world we know
And you never see it coming back
But I can see it coming back
